Taking the term, "family practice" to heart, Dr. Scott McCranels proudly leads the team, his sister Tammy serves as our inventory manager, and their mother Joann is still managing our back office. This team has stayed true to the original values our practice was founded upon and the additions of Dr. Thebis Alvarez and Dr. Stephanie Quinn have brought with them a mix of expertise and genuine family values that perfectly align with the McCranels' vision. Dr. Scott has been following in his fathers footsteps in surfing and in orthodontics for years. After a professional surfing career traveling the globe, Dr. Scott decided to finish his schooling and became a orthodontist in 1995 and joined the family here in the West Palm Beach. Dr. Scott is proud of his beautiful daughter Camilla and his incredible wife, Bebe. Dr. Scott’s charities of choice in the community are The YMCA of the Palm Beaches and The Surfing Florida Museum managed by the PBC Surfing History Project.

Dr. Scott grew up locally on Singer Island and attended Cardinal Newman H.S. graduating in 1980. He majored in Microbiology at University of Florida and then attended Dental school at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. After receiving his DMD degree in 1992, Dr. Scott then participated in a one year research fellowship at the University of Florida’s Orthodontic Department. The research studied the relationships of varying orthodontic treatments on Class II malocclusions in Phase I (“early treatment” ) cases. The study was supported by a NIH grant. Subsequently Dr. Scott complete a 2 year Orthodontic Residency at Medical College of Georgia orthodontic program (1993 - 1995) and then returned home to join the family orthodontic practice with his father "Dr. Chummer" in the summer of 1995.

Dr. Scott is also a member of the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame and The Florida Skateboard Hall of Fame. In fact, Dr. Scott and Dr. Chum are the only father and son combination that have both been inducted into the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame.

Dr. Thebis Alvarez Franceschi, an ABO-certified orthodontist, excels in providing top-tier orthodontic care. Her journey began in Venezuela, inspired by her father, a physics professor, and her passion for the arts. This unique combination of interests led her to the field of orthodontics, where she could merge her love for science, art, and helping others.

After relocating to the United States in 2007, Dr. Alvarez pursued her education with vigor, earning a Bachelor’s in Biology from Florida International University and a dental degree from Nova Southeastern University. She further honed her skills by completing her orthodontic training at Jacksonville University, where she was equipped with the latest techniques and knowledge in the field.

Dr. Quinn’s affinity for McCranels Orthodontics stems from its family-like atmosphere and strong community ties, a perfect reflection of her own values and her cherished connection to Florida. Born and raised in New York with extended trips to Florida her whole life, Dr. Quinn always felt the Sunshine State was destined to be her home. A University of Miami alum, she felt an immediate sense of belonging at McCranels Orthodontics because of the compassionate care that goes hand in hand with orthodontic excellence.

Her path to orthodontics was paved by a childhood accident that damaged her smile and, after witnessing the skill and empathy of dental professionals, transformed a moment of vulnerability into a lifelong mission. This personal transformation fueled her pursuit through Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and Seton Hill University, where she earned her dental and orthodontic credentials.
Dr. Quinn embraces a friendly approach, understanding that patient care is as much about emotional support as it is about clinical expertise. After decades of experience collaborating with other local specialists, Dr. Scott is excited to see Dr. Quinn’s enthusiasm and communication style be an asset to our orthodontic practice.
