For a lot of us, Thanksgiving means spending time with family around a table topped with turkey and filled with all the trimmings. However, some of our local Palm Beach County seniors will not have the opportunity this year to spend time with family and loved ones for the holiday.
Each year, McCranels Orthodontics staff volunteer to serve food at the YMCA of the Palm Beaches. This year, they served alongside a group of local students who decided to volunteer their time as well.
The YMCA had plenty of turkey, stuffing, yams and more, but the most bountiful of blessings given today was the love and compassion shared with our deserving seniors.
Dr. Scott told WPTV News that we “provide them (seniors) a nice setting to have a Thanksgiving meal and have some social interaction instead of being at home by themselves.” He added that it is “definitely a reality check to see how fortunate you are if you do have all your family in town. When you see other people that don’t, it makes you appreciate what you have.”
Dr. Scott has been volunteering his time for years, and being on the board of the YMCA of the Palm Beaches has been a great way to give back to the community, especially during the holidays.
